Throwback Tuesdays- Jay Jay Okocha

FOOT_Nigeria_Okocha

Augustine Azuka “Jay-Jay” Okocha (born 14 August 1973 apparently lol) is a Nigerian former footballer who played as a midfielder. He is known for his stepovers, brilliant skill, technique, and being ‘so good that they named him twice’ (a line immortalised in a terrace chant while Okocha played for Bolton Wanderers). He is a dual Nigerian-Turkish citizen, having acquired Turkish citizenship as “Muhammet Yavuz” while playing for Süper Lig team Fenerbahçe.

He was and still is the best Midfielder to have ever come out on Nigeria. He brought quality to a football pitch and I am sure Bolton fans will never forget that freekick against Boro to keep them up, or the Goal for Nigeria out of nowhere to bring them level in the 2000 african Nations Cup final against Cameroun (they lost but  still)

Okocha never won the African Player of Year award, becoming arguably the best player never to win the award despite coming second twice in 1998 and 2004. He did however win the inaugural BBC African Footballer of the Year and the successive one, becoming the only player to retain the award and win it more than once. In 2004 he was listed in football legend Pelé’s FIFA 100 (a list of the greatest 125 living players of all time). In 2007 he was voted number 12 on the greatest African footballers of the past 50 years list, on a poll conducted by CAF to coincide with their 50th anniversary.

He is out 10maestro throwback for today. Here is a Video of him in action. Enjoy!

10Maestro presents…….Throwback Tuesdays!

Hello there guys! I am pleased  introduce a new segment of 10maestro called Throwback Tuesdays where I look at past players we loved and miss. Any requests for player videos are welcome…… Have fun and Enjoy:

Guti

guti

José María Gutiérrez Hernández, commonly known as Guti, is a Spanish retired footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. Before the Iniestas and Xavis of this world he was one of the pass masters of his time. Sublime technique on the ball, a sweet left foot and an eye for a pass through the middle of needle. He must have inspired some of the stars of today to become better players by just watching him play for Real Madrid.

During his professional career, he played almost exclusively for Real Madrid – appearing in more than 500 official games and serving as vice-captain– helping the club to 15 trophies, most notably three UEFA Champions League and five La Liga titles.

Guti played 13 times with Spain since making his debut in 1999. See Guti in action Below

Season Review 2012/2013

?????????????????????????????????????????????????

The Curtain has once again Come down on the season. Its been an eventful season! Great Goals, Great passes, Great fast paced football, comeback and all sorts. We are  used to this in England. Although the season didn’t finish as crazy as it finished last year, Arsenal and Tottenham did give us some decent drama on the last day.

We lost some good players to retirement like Jaime Carragher, Steve Harper and some Great ones too Paul Scholes and David Beckham even though he doesn’t play in the premier league anymore, he is one of the top players to play in the league. Most of all though we lost a LEGEND, A MYTH, A PHENOM! SIR ALEX FERGUSON! Words are not enough to express how great this man was for manchester United, England and British football. The premiership will be a lighter league with all these people gone but this is the chance for the younger lads to write themselves into football history.

Someone who is writing himself into premier league beastory( BEAST HISTORY) is Gareth Bale! This guy is showing shades of Cristiano Ronaldo. He is a constant Match winner for the spurs and it was a real shame that they didn’t make it to the Champions League. I reckon one more season like that with them will suffice and then I believe he should move.  As a Manchester United fan I would Love to see him wear the 11 shirt when Uncle Giggs finally retires. Lets take a moment to enjoy  him in action

I look forward to next season with great optimism! The Premier League is going through a lot of changes next season. Financial Fair Play, Goal Line technology and Managerial Changes at  three of the clubs that finished in the top four. It will be interesting to see if this changes the dynamic of the so-called “top four”. Teams like Liverpool and Tottenham will see this as a chance to creep up on any of the teams that find the change hard to adjust to. I also look forward to World Class talent Coming Through! The likes of Falcao, Cavani and even Cristiano Ronaldo have been Rumoured to be coming to the Premier League! I for one would love to see the premiership restored as the BEST league in the world and I have a feeling next season is the season!
